The final day of the 2014 State Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium did not disappoint. Knoxville’s Tanner Dunkin turned the Blue Oval gold with a win in the 100 meter dash finals, with a time of 11.03, which was also the fastest time out of all four classes. Dunkin wrapped up his day with a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash to take the silver medal. The sprint medley relay actually began the day, which saw Pella, Pella Christian and PCM’s girls all finish first in their respective heats. The Lady Dutch were fourth overall in 3A, the Eagles were seventh and the Mustangs were tenth in 2A. Pella’s boys only participated in one event, and that was the 800. Jordon Pingel was fourth in the state with a time of 1:56.25. Pleasantville’s Patrick Sheehey and Kirk Wicks were each sixth overall in the 100 and 200 meter dash finals, respectively.
