Preparations are being made at Young’s Park for the placement of Knoxville’s Freedom Rock. Former Mayor Don Zoutte recently addressed the Knoxville City Council to request placement on city property. He also requested the donation of funds for lodging, mileage and paint for the painter that will decorate the rock. The Council approved $2000 toward the Freedom Rock, and placement at Young’s Park. A crew from JB Concrete was on site pouring a 4 by 6 foot, 6 inch concrete slab that will hold the six-ton rock. Jim Pelong, with JB Concrete, says the rock should be set by Friday.
