The Knoxville School Board has chosen to be a part of the Gateway to College.
The board unanimously approved the program during their rescheduled meeting Friday afternoon. Superintendent Cassi Murra says the program through the Des Moines Area Community College will give area dropouts an opportunity to get their diploma through Knoxville High School and offer them a taste of college life. It will be offered to any dropout under the age of 21.
Also during Friday’s meeting, the board voted to hire three new teachers, made the dance team a co-coach position, and decided that facility tours by the board will be done on Friday, September 19th.
The board will next meet on Monday, September 8th.
