Area rivers and streams are working overtime to manage water from the week’s heavy rain.
According to the National Weather Service, the storms on Tuesday and Wednesday dumped 3 to 4 inches of rain county wide.Water inflows at Lake Red Rock are expected to top 50,000 cubic feet per second through Friday evening and water levels will top 760 feet by Saturday. The Des Moines River level at Swan sharply rose nearly four feet and the English Creek near Knoxville topped flood stage and rose nearly 12 feet during the day Wednesday. Drivers are reminded to not drive through flooded roadways and anyone on water should take extra caution and be on the lookout for hidden debris and strong currents.
