The road of the regular season now a dead end, both Melcher-Dallas’ and Twin Cedars’ girls’ basketball teams have turned onto “Playoff Place,” which features a scenic view of the Wells Fargo Arena and the Class 1A state tournament just a little further down the way. Both teams will try to keep their feet on the accelerator tonight in a pair of opening round regional contests. The 8 – 13 Saints will be paying Martensdale – St. Mary’s a visit; the Blue Devils have a stingy defense that has given up only 38 points per game in 22 contests, including a season low seven versus East Union a few weeks ago. The Sabers have to contend with Moravia, a team that beat them 73 – 38 on January 20. The winners will advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals at Martensdale and face one another. Tonight’s postseason contests are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
