Instead of dwelling on what could have been, the Pella Christian Eagles had one challenge from Head Coach Larry Hessing coming into Friday’s consolation match-up at the Well – “let’s be us.” And the Pella Christian Eagles did just that. They earned a 64-51 victory over Aplington-Parkersburg in the consolation round of the Class 2A State Basketball Tournament, a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS. Pella Christian’s offense bounced back from their worst performance all season Thursday against Regina, with 11 three-point baskets from five different players Friday afternoon. Assistant Coach Marv Van Wyk says a big second quarter set the tone for the rest of the contest. David Kacmarysnki snagged 18 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass, to go along with 10 points to earn a double-double. The Eagles were led by Levi Jungling with 15 points, followed by 11 from Jason Holwerda and 10 each from Mitch Fopma and Josh Posthuma. The Eagles finish the year 18-8 and say farewell to five seniors: Holwerda, Posthuma, Brant Vermeer, Ryan Van Kooten, and Carson Dugger.
