The local impact of the increased gas tax could soon be felt.
Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini says the city will receive close to $170,000 this fiscal year for road improvements. He says the city council will hold special work sessions to address where the funds will go specifically.
“We’ve placed a very heavy emphasis on improving our corridors first and then being able to tackle local streets,” Nardini says. “The 2016 budget includes about $300,000 in local street improvements, and it would be nice with the $170,000…that would equate to an additional three blocks per year for us. One of the high priorities would be for the city to do more street projects on an annual basis.”
