School Supplemental Aid continues be a topic of disagreement in Iowa Legislature and there is worry that it could mean that no state aid increase will be passed during this legislative session.

District 28 State Representative Greg Heartsill says, in light of this situation, bills are being presented to help schools utilize the funds they already have. He says one bill would call for the use of Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, or PPEL funds to be expanded to include equipment repairs.
Heartsill says a similar bill would also allow the cross-programming of funds for dropouts and at-risk students.
