Pella Christian’s boys’ basketball team started the year hot. They won their first five games, with wins over ADM and PCM highlighting their early stretch. The Eagles’ big test came in their last game before Christmas break, with a visit from Pella High. The Little Dutch were still starting to come into their own after transitioning from their triumphant football season. Both teams scored at will in the first half, with the Eagles down 43 – 35 at intermission. A big third quarter helped Pella put PC away, 87 – 74. Coach Larry Hessing feels it helped his players and coaching staff make adjustments for down the road. The Eagles finished the year defeating Aplington-Parkersburg for third place in the Class 2A state tournament.
