Marion County continues the process of trying to get a damaged building demolished in downtown Knoxville.

County Maintenance Department Head Cal Stephens says structural integrity and asbestos inspectors have been in the building at 113 and 115 Third Street and several contractors have begun to offer up bids to tear down the building. He says he expects the results from the inspections to come back before the end of the week, at which time the Marion County Board of Supervisors will decide on how to proceed.
Stephens believes if all goes according to plan, deconstruction of the building could begin the middle of next week.
