A tie game going into the ninth inning was broken by Hamline, as Central’s baseball team fell yesterday in Tucson, 6 – 4. Central had a 2 – 1 lead until the fourth, when a one-out error proved to be costly and the Pipers scored three runs to take the lead. The Dutch tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to an RBI single by Zach Brown, but could not hold on. Dylan Diveney was effective on the mound, scattering seven hits in seven-and-two-thirds innings with just one walk, seven strikeouts, and allowing three earned runs. The Dutch have dropped four straight and are 3 – 4 on the season. They’ll try to bounce back when they play a doubleheader with Gustavus Adolphus later today.
