Earlier this week the Iowa Senate passed a bill regarding eligibility requirements for the gap tuition assistance program.

Gap tuition assistance provides funding to community colleges for need-based tuition assistance to applicants to enable their completion of continuing education certificate training programs for in-demand occupations.
District 14 State Senator Amy Sinclair voted for the bill. She says it helps eliminate additional paperwork by allowing those who get food stamps to be eligible for gap tuition assistance.
The bill also means applicants will only need to provide six months’ worth of family income information, instead of the current twelve.
