The annual statewide tornado drill took place on Wednesday as a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
All outdoor warning systems in Marion County and central Iowa were tested at 10:15 by emergency response teams. Pella Administrative Services Manager Marcia Slycord tells KNIA/KRLS News the testing is important to ensure that everything will be ready for severe weather events. She says the sirens in Pella and all clear signal worked as intended. According to Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada, all sirens in Knoxville functioned properly.
