Parole has been granted to convicted arsonist David Allen Brommel, after being granted work release less than two years into a 30-year sentence.
The Iowa Board of Parole awarded him parole effective April 13th.
Brommel was convicted for the Christmas Day 2011 fire at the Knoxville DHS building and for a fire that burned down the Indianola DHS office, as well as drug charges in Warren County.
In September, Brommel was granted work release and at that time Iowa Department of Corrections Assistant Director Fred Scaletta told KNIA/KRLS News Brommel’s mandatory minimum sentence expired in March 2014 and he successfully completed all recommended and required programs. Scaletta says the Parole Board determined the risk assessment was at a low level.
Brommel is scheduled to be released from supervision in 2025.
