The roller coaster ride will continue into the postseason for the Central baseball team, as they were able to secure a spot in the six-team league tournament after splitting with Luther on Monday to win the series. Game one went to the Dutch, 11 – 1, thanks to an impressive pitching performance from freshman Dylan Diveney, and a strong day at the plate from the offense. Diveney went all seven innings, allowing only one run on five hits with one walk. Zach Zylstra and Adam Lindell each were 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and seven total players drove in a run in game one. Central held a 2 – 0 lead in game two until the Norse scored four in the eighth to win 5 – 2. The consistent Zylstra went 5-for-9 at the plate for the doubleheader. Central is 16 – 19 on the season and 12 – 12 in league play. They’ll conclude the regular season this weekend at home versus Loras, whom the Dutch trail by just a game in the standings.
