A humble man, proud of his service in the Armed Forces, has been recognized for his bravery 48 years later.

Pleasantville’s Norman Fry received the Bronze Star Thursday in a ceremony at the Marion County Courthouse.
Fry fought in the Vietnam War and during an intense battle with the Viet Cong, he resupplied ammunition at very critical points allowing soldiers to overcome the enemy forces.
Col. Greg Hapgood of the Iowa National Guard said the original date on the award was August of 1967 but for some reason it was never was given to Fry. He was honored to present Fry with his medal and finally provide him with the recognition he deserved.
