Two more tallies were rung up in the win column for the Pella Christian softball team on Saturday. The Eagles were just able to get by Sumner-Fredericksberg, the No. 11-ranked team in Class 2A, 1 – 0. For the third straight decision, Emma Schnell was the winning pitcher, going the entire way, allowing just two hits, two walks, and striking out an incredible 15 batters in the process. The game-winning run was recorded in the sixth, when Chloe Dembski belted a single, and Courtney Johannes followed her up with a triple. The Eagles used that momentum to blast Springsville, 13 – 0. Natalie Vos earned the “W” on the rubber, pitching four innings of shutout ball and striking out five. Dembski was again the table-setter for the offense, cranking out three doubles and knocking in a total of three runs. Tessa Howerzyl and Brooke Mitrisin each had a single and a triple. The record is now 4 – 0 for the Eagles, who will get back to work on Monday at home versus Pleasantville.
