Making his first ever varsity start, Pella High baseball freshman, Landon Vander Leest, took a no-hitter into the fifth inning to help the Dutch win 6 – 1 last night. Vander Leest wound up with six innings pitched, allowing just two hits and a run. Grant Judkins tagged his first home run of the season, and he went 2-for-3 on the day and drove in three runs. For the fifth straight game, the Little Dutch scored in the first inning, this time putting up three. The pitching has been a big part of how they’ve been doing so far. Their one run they allowed last night was the only earned tally against them in the past 22 frames. The Little Dutch swell their record to 6 – 0, and they’ll play a two-fer with Grinnell later this evening.
