One of eight ladies will be chosen as the 2015 Marion County Fair Queen.
This year’s candidates are Ashlee Dethrow, Jenny Petersen, Haley DeMoss, and Jenna Kauzlarich of Knoxville, Paige Anderson of Pella, Kiley Elder of Ackworth, Attylissa Bailey of Hamilton, and Paige Beyer of Otley.
The ladies will each participate in individual interviews, a group interview, and a stage competition. The event will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville on Saturday, June 27th, beginning at 7pm. KNIA/KRLS’s own Spencer Dirks will be the Master of Ceremonies. The event is free and open to the public.

Paige Beyer is the daughter of Harvey and Teresa Beyer of Otley, Iowa. She is involved in 4-H, Pella Christian High’s dance team, band, and theater. She enjoys reading, participating with her church’s youth praise team, and spending time with family and friends. She will be a senior at Pella Christian this fall, and after graduation she plans to attend Dordt College to major in Secondary Education.
Paige Anderson is the daughter of Tom and Deb Anderson of Pella, Iowa. Paige is heavily involved in FFA, 4-H, Choir, Varsity Show Choir, Pony Express, and the Red Rock Riders Equestrian Drill Team. Paige enjoys spending time working with her horses, drawing, and camping with her family. Going into her senior year at Pella Community High School, Paige is having fun going on college visits and planning for her future.
Kiley Elder is the daughter of Bart and Dianna Elder of Ackworth, Iowa. Kiley is involved in 4-H, FFA, speech and drama, Spanish club, student council, and National Honors Society. Kiley’s favorite activities are showing cattle, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Kiley graduated from Pleasantville High School in May and plans on attending Black Hawk College in Kewanee, Illinois, this fall to be a member of their livestock judging team. Later, she plans to transfer to Oklahoma State University to double major in Agriculture Communications and Marketing with a minor in Spanish.
Jenny Petersen is the 18-year-old daughter of James and Julie Petersen of Knoxville, Iowa. Jenny also has three older brothers: Justin, Jacob, and Josh. Jenny has been involved in 4-H, the Melcher-Dallas FFA Chapter, the M-D Basketball team, Dance Team, Heartland Youth Show Lamb Circuit, National Honor Society, Youth Group, and County Council. Some of Jenny’s favorite activities include playing basketball, showing and raising livestock, going on mission trips, spreading the importance of agriculture through FFA, and spending time with friends and family. Jenny will be attending Iowa State University this fall to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Communications.
Haley DeMoss is the daughter of Lori and Dave DeMoss of Knoxville, Iowa. Haley is involved in 4-H, FFA, Choir, volleyball, soccer, shooting team, drag racing, and has volunteered with her church. Haley’s favorite activities include any type of sport, a lot of outdoor activities, watching the races, hanging out with friends and family, and making people laugh. Haley plans on entering some DIY projects and showing her horse and goat at the Marion County Fair. Haley will be a senior at Knoxville High School this fall.
Jenna Kauzlarich is the daughter of Rick and Sue Kauzlarich of Knoxville, Iowa. Jenna is involved in FFA, 4-H, Knoxville High School Volleyball Team, and her church youth group. Jenna’s favorite activities are working with and showing her livestock, promoting agriculture, playing the piano, and spending time with friends and family. Jenna will be a senior at Knoxville High School this fall and plans to attend college later in pursuit of an Agricultural Education Degree with a minor in Graphic Design.
Attylissa Bailey is the daughter of Ryan and Allyson Bailey of Hamilton, Iowa. Attylissa has been involved in 4-H, County Council, First Tech Challenge robotics’ team, and HHE drama productions. Her favorite activities are spending time outdoors hiking or kayaking, playing volleyball with family and friends, reading, and spending time with her animals. After completing her senior year, Attylissa plans to attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Ag Business or Biology.
Ashlee Dethrow is the daughter of Kenton Dethrow of Knoxville, Iowa. Ashlee is involved in 4-H, FFA, Knoxville High School Cheerleading Squad, Knoxville High School Track Team, Red Rock Riders Equestrian Drill Team, and the World’s Toughest Rodeo Equestrian Drill Team. Ashlee’s favorite activities include riding horses, volunteering at the Marion County Humane Society, and spending time with her friends and family. Ashlee will be a junior at Knoxville High School this fall.
