The Knoxville Baseball Squad swept Chariton last night in convincing fashion winning game one 11-1 and finishing off the Chargers in game two 13-1. Nolan Wallace earned the win in game one going the distance and raising his record to 4-0 on the season, allowing just three hits. In the second game, Chariton appeared to get out of the first inning by sitting down Knoxville in order, but a throwing error allowed the inning to continue. Seven runs and a half an hour later, the Panthers had erupted keyed by Austin Little’s bases clearing double. The Panthers would bat around in the first and second innings and held a 13-0 lead at one point. Coach Joel Johnson told KNIA/KRLS Sports what he was most impressed with was the discipline at the plate. Tony Salato went 2/4 in the nightcap and four R-B-I, Kevin Woodhouse hit safely in his 27th consecutive game, and Cameron Liston earned the win pitching three innings allowing no runs on just two hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Knoxville is now 21-3 on the season and 15-0 in the South Central Conference which clinches no worse than a tie for the conference title. The Panthers are on the road against Grinnell tonight.
