Pella High’s baseball team took another huge step towards their first ever Little Hawkeye Conference championship by sweeping Norwalk on Monday, 5 – 1 and 9 – 0. Jordan Meyer grabbed the win on the hill in game numero uno, throwing 5 2/3 innings while giving up just one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Grant Judkins was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, and three RBI. The Dutch put up a four-spot in the third inning and didn’t look back. Pella scored consistently through the middle innings in game two to finish off the sweep of the Warriors. Judkins hit another home run and now has ten on the season; Marcus Wittmer was 3-for-4, Landon Vander Leest was back and grabbed two hits, and Lucas Hileman was the winning pitcher. The Lady Dutch dropped a tough one to a ranked Norwalk team on the road, 5 – 4. Pella was up 4 – 3 in the seventh, but gave up two runs to lose in walk-off fashion. The Little Dutch improve to 20 – 3 overall and 12 – 2 in conference play, while the girls are now 15 – 11. The Lady Dutch play a split doubleheader today, hosting North Mahaska before going across town to play Pella Christian.
