There’s still time to register for a race that’s benefitting area athletic programs.

Balloonfest 5K Organizer Mike Buchheit says the Balloonfest committee approached the Pella and Knoxville Cross Country teams about holding a race during the festivities four years ago. Race proceeds will help cross country athletes at Pella, Pella Christian, and Knoxville high schools.

Buchheit says the route has been changed a little this year due to construction at Lake Red Rock. Registration for the Balloon Fest 5k/10k starts at 7 a.m. Saturday at North Overlook Beach. The fee is $20 for individuals and $15 per person for teams of seven.
