The Pella City Council approved expansion of an underground electric conversion project and an engineering agreement for improvements to the west electric substation at this week’s meeting.

City Administrator Mike Nardini says the city intends to expand their efforts of moving overhead power lines underground along Washington Street to now cover the three blocks of Franklin Street east of East 3rd. Nardini says the council also approved a $73,000 engineering services agreement for improvements to the west electric substation, which serves a large portion of the city. He says both projects are intended to bolster the city’s electric reliability.
