First United Methodist Church in Knoxville will hold a program this year to help with the Monday morning late starts at area schools.

Knoxville Community School District will have 2-hour late starts on Mondays this school year to allow professional development time for teachers.

First United Methodist’s Anita Martin says they wanted to provide a place where children can get help with reading and homework while they wait for school to start.

Martin adds the church will provide breakfast and milk. Buses will pick up children at the church and take them to their schools. The program is from 7:30am to 9:30pm and limited to 50 children in grades K through 5.

Registration forms for the Monday Morning Panther Program are available at the church website by clicking here. There will also be registration available on Thursday, August 6th during school registration at Knoxville High School. For more information on the program, call 641-842-3712, send an e-mail to fumchurch@iowatelecom.net or go to their Facebook page here.
