All season long, the Lady Dutch relied on a deep lineup and the left arm of Elyse Sadler to make their way to their first ever State Tournament.
Unfortunately for Pella High, seven defensive errors were just too much to overcome, as conference foe Dallas Center-Grimes was able to earn a 9-3 victory in a game that was heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Head Coach Krista DeMeulenaere said after the game that defense was the difference between winning and losing in many games for the girls this season, and last night was no different.
She says despite the fact they couldn’t overcome a big deficit following a Fillies seven-run explosion in the top of the 3rd, she loved how the offense responded and how well they hit against one of the best young pitchers in Class 4A, Rachel Lowary.
Sadler earned her 1st postseason loss, giving up 3 earned runs in a complete game effort, and Sara Tallman scored all three Dutch runs. Pella High will play for third place against Creston later today, with our coverage on 92.1 KRLS beginning at 1:15 p.m. from Fort Dodge.
