The controlled burn of a Knoxville home will take place today as part of firefighter training.

Knoxville Fire and Rescue and the Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department will burn the home located at 606 West Robinson. Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell says they’ve been practicing in the home since they obtained it last month.

As a result of the house burning, Fremont Street between Montgomery and Robinson will be closed all day and Robinson Street between Fremont and Brobst will be shut down in the afternoon.

Spectators are welcome to see the event and are asked to stay behind the banner tape. The controlled burn is scheduled to begin at 9am.
