After heavy rain prompted flash flooding in parts of Marion County Monday, more weather extremes are expected on Tuesday.
Many received more than two inches of rain in the afternoon, including 2.37″ measured at our studios in Knoxville. The Marion County Secondary Roads Department tells KNIA/KRLS News multiple gravel roadways were flooded from Pleasantville to Bussey.
Dangerous heat and strong thunderstorms are in the forecast. Heat index values in excess of 100 degrees are possible in the afternoon hours. According to the National Weather Service, large hail and damaging winds are possible in the evening and overnight.
