A special session of the Marion County Board of Supervisors has been scheduled for this afternoon at the Central Iowa Water Association (CIWA) headquarters in Newton.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and take possible action regarding the Attica-Pershing sewer project.

CIWA pulled out of the project on December 19th. In a letter to the board, CIWA cited delays in acquiring land and the threat of lawsuits as their reasons for withdrawing. Marion County then decided to do what they could so that the project would still be completed.

The meeting is scheduled for 1pm and the public is welcome to attend. The address for the special session is:
