The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Pella Police Department will be participating in a national program that’s aimed at allowing residents to safely dispose of prescription drugs.

Both agencies will accept expired or unused medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

“That gives you the opportunity to bring in any unused medications, expired medications, or any other medication you no longer use,” Lt. Paul Haase says. “You can bring them to this drug drop off–there are no questions asked, it’s free of charge, you can drop them off and leave.”

“It’s really a no-hassle event.”

The Marion County Sheriff’s office will be hosting their take back program in their lobby, and Pella officers will be accepting drop offs at the Pella Walmart.
