Pella High School students grew a special kind of pumpkin this summer, and sold their harvest at this week’s Pella Farmers Market.
FFA Student James Van Gorp says they planted a pink variety in the spring to support breast cancer awareness this fall.
“We started them and gave them to all the students when we they were three inches tall,” he says.
Pella Agriculture Instructor Jacob Bowers tells KNIA/KRLS News they will hand out 600 pink pumpkin seedlings to students to plant after Tulip Time next spring.
