Aside from the first five minutes and the last quarter-and-a-half, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team showed spouts of greatness in their loss to Grinnell on Tuesday night. Once they learned how to break the backcourt pressure of the Tigers, PC was getting some open looks under the basket and outside of the arc from their long-range shooters. Though they did lose 68 – 45, the Eagles had a lead late in the third quarter before stumbling the rest of the way. Coach Kevin Van Maanen feels that the girls are progressing, but wants his team to looking at the whole court rather than just focused on one area moving forward. The Eagles’ next chance will come tomorrow night against a defensively strong Dallas Center – Grimes team.
