Snow and ice that melted along some county roadways has caused nearly half a dozen vehicles to end up in a ditch this morning.
KNIA/KRLS received a report from a listener that at least three cars were affected along G28 near Dutchman’s Landing and Hunter’s Ridge. Pella Fire, Pella Ambulance, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office all responded to a single vehicle rollover near the Red Rock Marina at approximately 6:25 a.m. No serious injuries were reported.
There are also unconfirmed reports of accidents on T-25 near Tracy. Marion County road crews are out at affected spots, with the ice likely melting as temperatures were already over the freezing mark as of 8 a.m.
Highs near 50 degrees today will melt a majority of remaining snow on the ground, but that water is likely to refreeze tonight as a cold front pushes through. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution during the morning commute tomorrow, and to report any dangerous spots to area law enforcement.
