High school students around Marion County are celebrating National FFA Week.
Student Caleb Reitveld says the organization used to be called “Future Farmers of America,” but was shortened to the abbreviation because it now represents more than farming. Rietveld lives on a farm of north of Pella, but says he joined the group to explore the different fields of the ag industry.
Knoxville Chapter Vice President Jenna Kauzlarich says the leadership competition held earlier this week helps FFA members learn about life long skills. National FFA Week is an opportunity for members, alumni and sponsors to advocate for agricultural education and the organization.
