Central’s men’s track and field team also came away with a narrow win over Wartburg on Saturday, capturing the Iowa Conference indoor meet title with a 147 – 128.5 edge. The Dutch had 24 all-Conference performances to help pace their fifth rise to the top in the league meet’s history. Cole Decker won both the 3000 and 5000 meter races which garnered him Most Valuable Performer honors. Abi Davis’ strong showing helped lead Central’s women to a third place showing. She won the 60, 200, and 400-meter dashes to record 30 points for the team, and, much like her male counterpart, Cole Decker, also won the league’s MVP award for her efforts. Central will have a few athletes go up to Wisconsin this Friday and Saturday to try and qualify for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Championships.
