Tax coupling has stalled in the Senate, Representative Greg Heartsill tells KNIA/KRLS news. The measure, which matches much of Iowa’s tax policy to federal standards, has passed with bipartisan support every year for the past five.

The House has passed a bill that includes tax coupling and Heartsill says in previous years it has been passed quickly through the Senate chamber and quickly signed by the governor. Heartsill notes that delay has an impact on farmers, teachers, small business owners and has frustrated Iowa tax preparers. Heartsill expresses his hope that situation will be resolved quickly.
