A cement truck tipped over just outside of Pella Monday evening.
Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News preliminary reports indicate the Manatts-owned mixer was heading westbound on G-28 at approximately 5:30 p.m. and the operator attempted to turn onto T-15 southbound, but may have moving too fast and hit the edge of the road, which witnesses say gave way*. The driver lost control while trying to skid to a stop and tipped on its side, spilling concrete on the adjacent property. Extraction was performed to remove the operator, who suffered no major injuries.
The official cause remains under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Pella Rural Fire, Pella Ambulance, and the Marion County Roads Department all responded to the call. The vehicle required two tow trucks to remove from the ditch.
