Katy Did’s owner Candy Evans tells KNIA/KRLS News the auction of the store and homes that are in danger of being sold due to her late mother’s medical bills has been delayed for a few months.
Evans says that offers she made to purchase the store and other properties have been denied and that she fears a personal lawsuit against both her and her brother if the bills are not paid in full soon. Evans thanks all of the people in community and around the county that have their support to her efforts to save the store. A benefit Sunday raised over $8,000. $25,000 has been raised from the community and $67,500 has been donated in total. Katy Did’s is the only general store in Bussey and if it is closed residents will have to drive elsewhere for groceries and other essentials.
