Melcher-Dallas Boys Track and Field will have to replace one of its better sprinters in quite a while. Chase Wetterling finished tenth overall at least season’s State Meet running an :11.24 in the 100 and finished fifth in the 200 running just over 23 seconds. And while not qualifying for state, he also competed in the 400 running a personal best 52 seconds. Coach Mike Hortsman tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his young runners took notice last season and want to reach the bar set by Wetterling. Hortsman says right now he wants them to run consistent times and not worry so much about breaking school records. He adds hopefully by the time they are seniors they can challenge Wetterling’s marks.
