The Special Olympics Iowa Mid-Winter Tournament was held March 12th at Iowa City West High School.

A team of Marion County Special Olympics athletes participated in the dance competition under the direction of Lois Turnage. The team consisted of Ben Heywood, Stacia Mason, Ashley Morrow, Tanji O’Connor, Marissa Schletzbaum, Haley Stevens, and Michelle Turnage. The team did a 2-part routine with a basketball theme to the tunes of Sweet Georgia Brown and Basketball. The team received a gold medal for their performance in the junior small group division.
