Playing their first road games in exactly one month, Central’s softball team lost a game that ended early, and one that went well past regulation against Buena Vista yesterday, 9 – 0 and 5 – 4. B-V scored six times in the first two innings of game one against Karly Olson, half of which were fueled by a three-run homer in the first. Tabitha Taylor had two of Central’s four hits in the game. The finale saw some major dramatics; Central was down 1 – 0 in the top of the seventh, when Taylor doubled with two outs to tie the game up and send it to extras. The Dutch put up three runs in the eighth, but Buena Vista answered with a two-out base hit down to their last strike to tie the game up yet again. An error in the infield with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th wound up being the demise of the Dutch. They fall to 18 – 10 overall and 4 – 2 in the Iowa Conference. Dubuque is Central’s next destination this Saturday for two games against the Spartans.
