An annual racing tradition is returning to Pella ahead of the Tulip Time celebration.

The 23rd annual Klompen Classic 5K begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in downtown Pella. Director of Crossroads Jim Hibma tells KNIA/KRLS News proceeds from the classic directly benefit their programs and the wide array of people they assist.

“We help them in all kinds of ways,” Hibma says. “We offer free counseling, which is a great dael for marriages, families, and individual who are stuck or troubled.”

“But we also have after school kids programs, we have senior programs through our SHIPP program, we have Christmas programs, and we’re also a fiscal agent for grants.”

This year’s kids classic event at 6 p.m. will begin at Trinity Reformed Church and continue to the Klokkenspel.
