No significant injuries were reported after an SUV hit a bike in front of Pella High School this morning.
Investigating officers with the Pella Police Department say a young girl was crossing East 8th Street at approximately 8 a.m. along University Street when the driver of the white vehicle failed to yield while turning right.
Pella Ambulance EMTs treated and released the bicyclist. The driver will not be charged, but a report was completed.
Police say this incident was a close call and could have been more serious. They remind drivers to obey posted traffic rules and to use extra caution near school zones and parks, as many kids are out on their bikes enjoying spring weather.
