The Pella School Board approved the first reading of changes to activity spending policies at the first of two summer meetings this week.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the board has been discussing the way groups spend and raise money for specific purposes in the activity fund.
Ebeling says there has been direction to districts to become more stringent with how the law applies to student and parent fundraising, and the policy was drafted by the school district’s attorney to better fit the latest regulations.
Ebeling and other administrators will be talking with different fundraising organizations over the next two months to determine the impact moving forward. A second reading will be held in July.
