In light of the tragic death of a four-year-old boy by a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Elgin Friday Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada shared important points on gun safety and firearms education.
Losada recommends keeping firearms, unloaded, in a safe that is difficult for children to reach. Losada points out that the natural curiosity of young children can be a hazard to them, if adults do not take steps to ensure weapons are stored safely. He stressed the responsibility of parents with and without guns to educate children about respecting them and protecting themselves.
