A game that was going along and the Knoxville Baseball Squad leading Perry one/nothing and playing well…then came the third inning. The Bluejays plated five runs to take control ultimately hanging on to defeat the Panthers five-to-three last night in a game heard live on AM 1320 and 95-point-three KNIA. Perry scored two runs to take the lead and that set the stage for Perry’s Janier (HAN-yea) Puente (PWEN-tay) to homer to straight away center field. What followed next can only be described as bazaar. Puente was ejected for excessive celebration after flipping the bat that landed in the first base coach’s box. On the next batter…Knoxville pitcher Rylan Cox hit the batter and Knoxville Catcher Calyn Bumgartner was tossed from the game. By the time the inning had ended Perry had a five/one lead and Knoxville could never get a run across until a rally in the seventh inning. Coach Joel Johnson told KNIA/KRLS while the third inning was frustrating…there were some good things that happened. Tanner Sharp took the loss for Knoxville going two-and-a-third innings allowing no hits but walking five and allowing three runs. Knoxville is now ten-and-11 on the season and has a big double header at Clarke on Monday.
