Despite high expectations to win their first round regional game against Des Moines Christian and falling short, the Pleasantville Softball team is still counting the season as a success and a building block for the future.
The team posted its second winning season in a row, and despite losing a large class of five contributing seniors, the Trojans have a lot to look forward to. Sophomore’s Andie Sowers, Corinne Thomas, and Katelyn Sandholdt all batted over .343 on the season, and junior Hannah Hatch also batted .338. Getting innings in early in the season and due to some injuries, freshman pitcher Abby DeJoode got much needed experience to carry on her 7-6 record into next season as she is penciled in as the starter. So the Trojans had a disappointing loss to end their season, but looking ahead Pleasantville Softball should be a force to be reckoned with in a competitive Pride of Iowa Conference.
