The Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of Iowa recognized Pella for excellence in the tourism industry at a ceremony during the 2016 Iowa Tourism Conference.

The Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau accepted the award for Outstanding Community. Awards to both metro and rural areas were made in 13 award categories overall.
