The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad felt they would be in for a rock fight against Albia last night and they got it, but the Panthers left no stone unturned in 48-41 win over the Blue Demons in a game heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA.
After a sluggish start, the Panthers found themselves tied at 15 late in the first half, but closed the first 16 minutes of play with an 11-2 run highlighted by a Chase Larson steal and basket. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports that run at the end of the first half was the difference. Chase Larson led all scorers with 18 points as Knoxville starts off 1-0 on the season and the same record in South Central Conference play. The Panther girls had chances to win but could not take advantage in a 36-34 loss to Albia last night. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS the effort was much better than their first game of the season. The Panthers had a chance to tie the game at the end but the buzzer beater would not go. Katie Keitges led the Panthers with 18 points Shaye Nichols scored 15 points as the Panthers fall to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville will travel to Bondurant-Farrar tomorrow.
