The Pella City Council will look to proceed with an ordinance to remove parking and a five-ton load limit on Washington Street from Hazel to East 1st.
As a result of recent reconstruction on Washington Street, the city council believes the road is capable of handling a higher level of traffic and in order to accommodate more vehicles, city staff recommends removing the existing weight limit and parking regulations. According to City Administrator Mike Nardini, Washington Street was widened from 26 feet to 31 feet and reinforced with additional concrete when it was repaved to allow larger vehicles to pass through.
The Pella City Council elected to move forward with the ordinance amendment proceedings, and a first reading will be held at their next meeting on December 20th.
