The Knoxville School Board met in regular session last night.
The board approved the At-Risk and Dropout Prevention Program Application and proposals for the bowling team to have bake sales at meets as a fundraiser and the replacement of district security cameras. Superintendent Cassi Pearson shared that a group of engineering students from Iowa State recently visited the unused East Elementary building on 7th Street. The students are creating proposals to re-purpose the building and Pearson says they will share their findings with the board at a meeting at the beginning of next year. Pearson mentioned possible strategies involved turning the building into low cost housing or a medical facility. The board also set a public hearing for the 2017-2018 School Calendar on January 9.
